(Wichita, Kan.) – Catholic Charities Diocese of Wichita is joining with the Catholic Charities network around the country to participate in We Are There, a national awareness campaign highlighting the life-giving services Catholic Charities agencies provide in their local communities.

“Catholic Charities Diocese of Wichita is firmly rooted in our call to walk alongside people in the most need who live in southcentral and southeast Kansas communities,” said Traci Kennedy, executive director of Catholic Charities of Wichita. “We are thrilled to join forces with our partner agencies across the nation to reach an even wider audience as we raise awareness of the work we are doing and serve those who are living in poverty, homeless, abused or disabled.”

We are there to stabilize and empower our neighbors in need

For over 80 years, Catholic Charities Diocese of Wichita has brought comfort, hope and relief to our neighbors, regardless of their faith or no faith at all, in the Wichita, southcentral and southeastern Kansas communities. The agency’s mission strives to stabilize and empower people experiencing poverty, abuse, homelessness or living with a disability, while preserving their human dignity.

Many ministries, one mission.

Our Daily Bread Food Pantry provides food to the hungry. St. Anthony Family Shelter houses homeless families. Harbor House is a safe shelter for survivors of domestic violence. Adult Day Services provides affordable day services for the disabled and lonely. The Foster Grandparent Program allows senior citizens to engage with children in a classroom setting to assist with educational or special needs while earning a stipend. Cana Counseling focuses on mental and emotional health for individuals and couples. Immigration Services works to keep families together as immigrants build new and secure futures in the United States of America. Southeast Kansas focuses on homeless prevention and stabilization in an 11-county area. Programs such as these are designed to improve lives through impactful and sustainable services.

There are 168 independent Catholic Charities agencies and 3,900 collective locations spread out across the United States and its five territories.

Collectively, the Catholic Charities network served more than 15 million people last year and provided more than 30 million meals to those in need. The dedicated, selfless staff of Catholic Charities agencies are aided in this work by the indispensable contributions of more than 215,000 volunteers nationwide. The services offered by each local Catholic Charities agency differ because they are tailored to the specific needs of the vulnerable members of their individual communities.
