During the recent holiday season, Our Daily Bread Food Pantry (ODB) at Catholic Charities served an average of more than 1,100 households during November and December with the food benefiting more than 5,900 people.
As a client-choice pantry, people visiting ODB choose the items that they and their families will most enjoy. Accompanied by a volunteer, each person selects items – the number of items is based on the size of their household – from these categories: canned fruits and vegetables, meat and proteins, rice and pasta, produce, bread and breakfast items.
Catholic Charities uses cash donations to purchase discounted food from the Kansas Food Bank while non-perishable items from food drives are essential for keeping the shelves stocked with needed food items. Large food drives during the fall help stock the ODB shelves for several months, but more food is needed each spring.

If you would like to learn how your business, church, school or organization could host a food drive during the Lenten season, email us at Giving@CatholicCharitiesWichita.org and we can provide you with a food drive toolkit, a list of most needed items, and answers to all your questions.
Our Daily Bread Food Pantry at Catholic Charities serves as many as 800 or more families each month, providing each with two-three days’ worth of food. The pantry is located at 2825 S. Hillside, and is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 a.m. to noon the fourth Saturday of each month.
