Planned Giving
Plan now to leave a legacy
Your gift can be seeds of hope for people pursuing new beginnings.

Legacy gifts
Thoughtful planning will benefit the vulnerable among us
Planning your legacy to sustain the work of Catholic Charities will make an impact beyond your lifetime.
Legacy gifts ensure services for people in need continue, while adapting programs for changing individual and community needs.
When carefully planned and guided by a tax professional, planned giving can also provide valuable tax advantages during your lifetime and after you pass, while ensuring your family is taken care of beyond your life on this earth.
Your legacy gift can be directed to a specific Catholic Charities program, or it can be designated to address the most urgent needs. Our development team welcomes the opportunity to explore how your interests align with our mission to determine the best way to fulfill your legacy.
Let us know about your plans
No matter what gift you plan to leave as your legacy, your generosity will provide people facing hardship with the vital support they need to find renewed hope each day.
Contact a development team member at (316) 264-8344, ext. 1221, or email Giving@CatholicCharitiesWichita.org to make an appointment with the executive director, who will share the different ways you can support our mission beyond your lifetime or in perpetuity.

Ways to leave a lasting legacy
Gift stocks, bonds or securities
You can designate Catholic Charities as a beneficiary of your stocks or bonds upon your passing. Doing so may provide capital gains tax advantages. Catholic Charities partners and processes all contributions of securities through the Catholic Diocese of Wichita for efficiency. Please designate Catholic Charities as the beneficiary on the form.

Leave a bequest to Catholic Charities in your will or revocable trust
One of the simplest ways to give is through an estate gift. You can make a bequest—after providing for your loved ones—by designating a specific dollar amount, property, a percentage of the estate’s value or by leaving the remainder to Catholic Charities.
Suggested language:
Unrestricted:
I hereby give, devise and bequeath _________ (specific amount or percentage of the estate, plus a description of the type of gift) to the Catholic Charities, Inc., a nonprofit organization located at 437 N Topeka Ave, Wichita, KS, 67202, Federal Tax ID #48-0543703, for the Catholic Charities, Inc. general use and purpose.
Restricted:
I hereby give, devise and bequeath _________ (specific amount or percentage of the estate/description of the property) to the Catholic Charities, Inc., a nonprofit organization located at 437 N Topeka Ave, Wichita, KS, 67202, Federal Tax ID #48-0543703, for the benefit of _______________________ (program name or service description).
Additional recommended language for restricted legacy gifts to allow flexibility if it is not possible for Catholic Charities to use the gift as originally intended:
If, in the judgment of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Charities, Inc., it shall become impossible for Catholic Charities, Inc. to use this bequest to accomplish the specific purposes of this bequest, Catholic Charities, Inc. may use the gift and/or the principal of this gift for such purpose or purposes as the Board of Trustees determines is most closely related to the restricted purpose of my bequest.
Establish a charitable lead trust to benefit both your beneficiaries and Catholic Charities
Transferring assets, such as cash or securities, into a charitable lead trust can benefit Catholic Charities for a predetermined number of years. Once the trust matures, your assets are returned to the individuals you’ve named. You can also benefit from an income tax deduction for the charitable payments during this time.
Give IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other retirement plan
When leaving an IRA or other retirement plan to your children, you can unintentionally create a significant tax burden on them due to income taxes on distributions. Naming Catholic Charities as the beneficiary allows you to avoid these taxes, passing along non-taxable assets to your heirs.
Consider whether you will have unused retirement assets, such as your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan. You can name Catholic Charities as a beneficiary for all or part of the remaining funds upon your passing. To gift retirement assets, contact your retirement plan administrator and complete a beneficiary designation form. Designate Catholic Charities, Inc., Federal Tax ID #48-0543703 as a beneficiary. Catholic Charities will receive the full value of your gift because your retirement assets will not be taxed at your death. In addition, your estate heirs will benefit from an estate tax charitable deduction.
Give through your life insurance policy
There are a number of options when considering a gift of life insurance. An easy way to accomplish charitable giving is to name Catholic Charities, Inc. as the beneficiary of your life insurance. If you own a life insurance policy that is no longer needed for its intended purpose, you may gift that insurance policy and receive immediate benefits. A third option is to create a new life insurance policy, name Catholic Charities, Inc. as the sole beneficiary and give ownership of the policy to the Catholic Charities, Inc. You may receive an income tax deduction for your gift. If the policy is not paid in full, you can send a donation to Catholic Charities for the amount of the premium each year and may receive an annual income tax deduction for each of those gifts.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Make a gift to Catholic Charities, while receiving fixed payments for the rest of your life. Your gift allows for a tax deduction and a portion of your annual annuity is tax-free. Upon your passing, Catholic Charities, Inc. would receive the remainder of the funds.
