Through the Rapid Rehousing program at Catholic Charities, people experiencing homelessness can find the extra support they need to make permanent housing their reality.

The Rapid Rehousing program is funded by a Continuum of Care grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Our goal is long-term stability, with participants being able to maintain their housing independently once the assistance ends.

Qualifications

Who qualifies

To qualify for Rapid Rehousing services, individuals or families must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be homeless—as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Be low-income based on household size. 
  • Participants must reside in one of the following counties: Sedgwick County or Southeast Kansas counties, including Allen, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Crawford, Elk, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson, or Woodson.

How to apply

Applications are received on a referral basis from the local Continuum of Care team.

A homeless service provider must refer individuals and families applying for Rapid Rehousing services. Please call 2-1-1 for a list of providers.

Can Rapid Rehousing pay my past due bills?

Rapid Rehousing does NOT pay past due utility or rental bills.

Is there a waitlist?

Yes. The local Continuum of Care advocacy group determines who receives Rapid Rehousing resources in the form of vouchers. We are able to provide the case management associated with individuals receiving the vouchers.

Do I have to have a referral?

Yes. Referrals must be made by a homeless service provider.

Do I have to be Catholic?

No. You do not have to be Catholic to receive case management support from Rapid Rehousing.
