About

Universal love in action

We strive to be a resource that lives up to the high calling of our name: “catholic,” meaning “universal,” and “charity,” meaning “love.”

To love is to act—and we put that love into motion by serving people facing hardship, sharing God’s compassion with our neighbors in need.

Our C.A.R.E. Values

Led by these C.A.R.E. values, we unify our efforts across the many different programs to align our actions with our mission.

  • Compassion—Meeting needs with compassion opens the door to genuine and lasting change.
  • Advocacy—Standing up for people who can’t stand up for themselves. Yet.
  • Respect—Every person made in God’s image is worthy of our utmost respect.

Our History

Answering the call for more than 80 years

For the Diocese of Wichita, Catholic Charities is our collective response to answering God’s call to serve people who have encountered poverty, abuse, homelessness, or are living with disability in our community.

Catholic Charities serves people throughout the 25-county area of South Central and Southeast Kansas that comprises the Diocese of Wichita.

Catholic Charities of Wichita has served our community since 1943 and is one of more than 160 independent Catholic Charities agencies spread out across the United States and its five territories. Each entity is a separate and locally operated agency under the umbrella of Catholic Charities USA.
