Many of us take the magic of Christmas for granted.
Living in a shelter is stressful for families, no matter how long their stay is, but Christmas brings even more challenges. Children wonder if Santa will know where to find them, while parents worry about whether they can afford even one gift for their child.
You can make Christmas memorable for families and individuals by donating items or making a financial gift to Catholic Charities for Christmas at Catholic Charities.
Your gift brings Christmas blessings to families in our shelters, veterans and seniors, and helps provide essential household items when individuals and families move from homelessness into stable housing.
Ways to share Christmas joy
- Purchase items and drop them off at any of the drop-off sites listed below.
- Visit the Amazon wish list page. Items will be delivered directly to Catholic Charities and sent to the programs.
- Give online or mail your gift to: Catholic Charities, 437 N Topeka Ave, Wichita, KS 67202. On your check memo, write “Christmas at Catholic Charities.”
- Host a donation drive. Ask your church, employer, friends or school to host a donation drive. Get everything you need to host a drive with our Donation Drive Toolkit below.
How to host a Christmas donation drive

Steps To Begin
- Promote your Drive. Distribute and hang the poster with the dates and location of your drive at least two weeks before collections begin.
- Share the wish lists on social media, via email, in newsletters, etc.
- Get your boxes ready by placing them in a high-traffic area and attaching a Donation Box sign.
- Collect donations on the dates you advertised.
- IMPORTANT: If you signed up to drop off your donation drive items, but anticipate too many items to fit in your vehicle, please notify us as soon as possible at (316) 264-8344 or schedule a pick-up time and we can come to you.
