On Wednesday, April 30, join us in wearing denim to raise awareness and support for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This day of action serves as a powerful statement against victim blaming and aims to educate our communities about sexual violence. By wearing denim, we stand in solidarity with survivors and advocate for a culture of respect and understanding.
Programs supporting domestic violence and sexual assault survivors
Catholic Charities Wichita (CCW) supports programs such as Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter and the SAFE Project (safety, advocacy, finances, employment). These programs provide critical resources to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, helping them regain safety, independence and economic self-sufficiency.
The SAFE Project
The SAFE Project, an outreach program of Harbor House, offers comprehensive support for survivors. Participants receive guidance from a dedicated case manager and access to services such as safety planning, conflict resolution and abuse education. Additional support includes medical and psycho-social advocacy, parenting resources and education on healthy relationships. To further promote financial stability, the program provides budgeting education and career services to assist survivors in securing and maintaining employment.

Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter
Harbor House at Catholic Charities is more than a safe shelter; it is a beacon of hope for those escaping domestic violence. Through outreach initiatives, Harbor House supports individuals who may not stay in the shelter but still need assistance in transitioning to a safer life. By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, the SAFE Project helps break the cycle of violence and creates pathways to lasting independence.
