An in-kind donation is a non-cash gift of goods or services. Examples accepted by Catholic Charities, Inc. include new, unused small kitchen appliances, linens, towels, cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, silverware and non-perishable food items. Each person in our programs is a different size, ranging from infant to adult male and female XXXL. Unfortunately, we do not have the storage space or inventory system to manage these. Instead, we ask you to donate gift cards: VISA, Mastercard, Walmart, Target, Amazon or a store of your choice. We ask that all gift cards for clothing be at least $25 and have the card's value written directly on them at the time of donation. Thank you.

Unfortunately, Catholic Charities does not have the capacity to wash and sanitize used kitchen appliances and dishes, clothing, or bed, bath and kitchen linens. We do not have the storage space for furniture. Instead, we help clients find free or discount-priced furniture through partners and other nonprofits that specialize in furnishings. 

We recommend donating gently used items such as these to the Klothes Kloset at United Methodist Open Door, located at 402 E 2nd St. in downtown Wichita, or call them at (316) 265-9371; His Helping Hands, located 1441 E. 37th St. N., or call them at (316) 838-8528; any local Goodwill store, Habitat for Humanity, etc.

Funds are budgeted for each program based on the cost to meet community needs and program goals for serving people after grants and fees are budgeted. If program funding sources change due to government cuts, shifting foundation priorities or lower than expected sales, the general fund is used to make up for the shortfall. This ensures consistent services can be provided to people in need when they need it most.

The great news is that every year, 85 percent or more of every dollar entrusted to Catholic Charities funds programs and services, not administrative or fundraising costs. This is only possible because of the generosity of donors and Christian stewardship principles.

Unfortunately, the time and expertise required to transfer ownership and sell real estate and property exceed the capacity of staff. We encourage you to sell the property, take care of the costs and your family needs, and send remaining funds to Catholic Charities.

If your child is in kindergarten and at least five years old, you may bring the child as part of a family or group volunteer opportunity. You must, however, sign your child up along with other members of the group. Families are considered groups. 

If you are an ongoing individual volunteer and cannot find childcare, please check with the program volunteer supervisor at your location before bringing a child to your scheduled volunteer time.
