Wichita, Kan. – Today, Adam delivered 955 toys to Catholic Charities Christmas Sharing. His goal is 1,500. If you would like to help Adam reach his goal, there are two days left! Bring teens toys to 5725 E. Kellogg between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 and Thursday, Dec. 10.
Distribution of toys is Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12. Approximately 400 families will come to pick out items for 1,000+ children. The hope is that parents will be able to take home two toys per child.
To deliver to 5725 E. Kellogg exit at Oliver or Woodlawn and go to Edgemoor, go east on the Frontage Road and it is on the right.
Adam’s Story
Two years ago, Adam’s mom called Catholic Charities to ask if a little boy would be allowed to organize a toy drive among his neighbors. Staff said sure, that’s great. That first year Adam collected 150 toys. The next year, he approached his favorite places to shop and eat and asked if they would help. He set a goal of 1,000 toys, continued his work in his neighborhood and enlisted his school too. KAKE TV heard of the story from one of Adam’s relatives and from there the story made national news through The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. The show helped Adam more than reach his goal of 1,000 toys.
In his third year, Adam has again worked with those in his circle of influence rallying businesses, restaurants, neighbors, classmates, his church and the community. The toys represent something more. They are demonstration of love and an encouragement of hope. This season is a time for renewed hope. His goal is 1,500. Donations are still being accepted at the Christmas Sharing site. Families, individuals, and businesses can deliver toys and let us know that it is for Adam’s toy drive.
